President Pranab Mukherjee gives GST the final nod

New Delhi, Apr 13 (KNN) President Pranab Mukherjee gave his nod to the four supporting legislations related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill on Thursday 13th April. The Bill was passed in both the Houses of Parliament during the budget session and was waiting the final formal nod by the President.

GST was passed with four supporting amendments by the Upper house on April 6th without any amendments. The four draft bills , The Central GST Act, 2017, The Integrated GST Act, 2017, The GST (Compensation to States) Act, 2017, and The Union Territory GST Act, 2017- were cleared by the Rajya Sabha.

With the President giving the green flag to the Bill, it can be expected to be rolled out from July 1 as planned by the ruling government. The GST bill was passed with a unanimous consensus by parties in both the houses except few opposition parties like TMC. (KNN/ DA)
