RBI doesn't have expertise over fiscal arrangements, should work in-sink with govt: SJM to KNN India

New Delhi, Oct 31 (KNN) Reserve Bank of India (RBI) needs to work in-sink with the government  as the RBI doesn’t have expertise over the fiscal arrangements, National Co-Convener of Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM), Dr Ashwini Mahajan told KNN India.

He said that the issue of monetary policy versus fiscal policy is not new and whatever the rift is it should be solved within the board only.

The role of monetary policy is about stability only but ‘ours problem is not about stability rather about growth, MSMEs, employment and output’.

Therefore, RBI should work in-sink with government, said Mahajan.

He further pointed that S. Gurumurthy has suggested onetime restructuring of MSMEs loans about which there was a general agreement in the board.

So, when there was a general agreement in the board, why the official of RBI should go in Public and comment on this, he questioned.

Over this matter, Mahajan said that the governor has to come clear on this.

This is no way of handling a disagreement. This sort of disagreement generally arises and if such thing happens it would dampen the name of India internationally, he pointed.

However, media reports quoted that S. Gurumurthy has complained to Governor Urjit Patel about the comments made by deputy governor Viral Acharya last week regarding the need to maintain regulatory autonomy.
