New Delhi, Oct 5 (KNN) On the basis of an assessment of the current and evolving macroeconomic situation at its meeting today, the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI's)  Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) has decided to keep the repo rate unchanged at 6.50%.

Consequently, the reverse repo rate under the LAF remains at 6.25%, and the marginal standing facility (MSF) rate and the Bank Rate at 6.75%.

Experts had largely expected the central bank to hike the repo rate by 25 basis points or 0.25 per cent. Five of the six panel members voted to leave the rate unchanged.

The RBI had last raised interest rates in two successive policy reviews in August and June this year.
