SC refuses to intervene for now in government's demonetisation policy
New Delhi, Dec 16 (KNN) The Supreme Court today has put a stay on all the cases filed in high courts of the country for now challenging the demonetization policy. The court has refused to intervene for now in the Modi government's demonetisation policy or give any interim relief to the common man facing hardship due to cash crunch.
A bench led by outgoing chief justice T S Thakur issued notices to all parties on a plea by the Modi government to transfer the cases to the top court and have a consolidated hearing on the issue.
The legal challenge to the policy would now be heard by a five-judge bench.
The bench expressed the hope that the government would be sensitive to the problems of common man and cooperative banks facing a freeze on their banking activities. (With Inputs from media reports)
