Patna, May 9 (KNN) Market regulator Securities and Exchange Bureau of India (SEBI) has opened an office in Patna, a move that will help it decentralise its operations and more effectively protect investor interests in smaller cities.

“The local office so established shall look after the regulatory aspects of investor protection, facilitating redressal of investor grievances, financial and investor education and other such functions as may be assigned from time to time, and its role and responsibility shall extend to the areas falling under the territorial jurisdiction of the State of Bihar,” said SEBI.

The Patna branch will work under the administrative control of its Eastern Regional Office at Kolkata.

SEBI also recently opened offices in Hyderabad and Lucknow.

Headquartered in Mumbai, SEBI has regional offices in New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Ahmedabad.  (KNN)
