Sept WPI at 5 year low; Mfg products inflation also down to 2.84% against 3.53% in Aug

New Delhi, Oct 14 (KNN) The Wholesale Price Inflation was at five year low in September at 2.38 per cent, mainly due to decline in food prices including vegetables.

The Wholesale Price Index (WPI) based inflation was at 3.74 per cent in August and 7.05 per cent in September 2013. 

According to official data, food inflation, which came in at 33-month low, stood at 3.52 per cent against 5.15 per cent, while the fuel and power group inflation came in at 1.33 percent against 4.54 per cent on a month-on-month basis. Manufactured products inflation came in at 2.84 per cent against 3.45 percent. The July WPI inflation has been revised to 5.41 percent from 5.19 per cent.

Even the retail inflation data for the month of September, which was released yesterday, declined to a record low of 6.46 per cent in September. (KNN/SD)
