Slow collections in August under new taxation: Data

New Delhi, Sept 28 (KNN) The collection of the taxes in the month of August under the Goods and Services Tax regime registered a slow trend as compared to the collections from the first month of its implementation, data by Ministry of Finance revealed.

According to the data, the collections of the first month of GST, i.e. July registered a collection of 92.283 crores, whereas the figure slipped to 90.669 crores in August.

Dissecting the collection figure further, the data revealed that the collections of Central GST for the month of August valued for 14,402 crores whereas the state GST stood at 21,067 crores.  The Integrated GST amounted for 47,377 crores of which 23,180 crores came from the imports and the remaining amount was added up by the inter-states transactions.

Commenting upon the promptness of the taxpayers in the filing of the taxes, the data revealed that of the 68.2 lakh taxpayers that were supposed to file the returns for August, 37.63 lakh taxpayers has done the GSTR-3B filing so far.  The report added that the GST collection figures are not reflective of the taxpayers involvement who have opted for the composition scheme for filing their returns.
