To take MSME on global platform, we are in talks with SBI, says Nitin Gadkari

New Delhi, Nov 29 (KNN) In a bid to take Indian Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to the global platform, MSME Minister Nitin Gadkari, to meet SBI Chairman next month, to discuss whether the bank can jointly run an e-commerce portal called Bharat Craft.

“For the first time, after our government came to power, we are readying a portal called Bharat Craft. I am meeting the chairman of State Bank (of India), we are trying that this portal is run by State Bank and the government jointly,'' Gadkari said during the question hour in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.

While referring to India’s MSMEs as the growth engine for the country, Gadkari said that China was able to progress because of e-commerce portal Alibaba.

Further, while commenting on village and cottage industries, and skill development in rural areas, he said, ''we are promoting the later which will lead to reverse migration from cities.''

''We are working on such policies which will stop the migration towards cities and people who have come to cities, will go back to their villages,'' Gadkari added.
