New Delhi, Feb 25 (KNN) With the Railway Budget being presented in Parliament today by Union Minister Suresh Prabhu, different industry bodies from across the country have come out with their expectations from the budget.

Railway being the most important mode for travelling and goods transport, it is very important for people from across sectors including the business fraternity.

Let’s look at what the industry, especially the MSME sector, expects:

Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium enterprises (FISME): If the Railways really want to support Make in India, they should immediately start time bound regular, small container services network among important stations. This will reduce the freight charges drastically particularly for long distance frights.

Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association (TANSTIA): The booking charge of Railways is quite high which should be brought down. If the freight charges are kept low, it would boost the industreis.

Manesar Industries Welfare Association (MIWA): The Freight charges should not be increased as it would directly impact the industries.

Noida Entrepreneurs Association (NEA): A Railway Station should be set up in Noida which has a labour workforce of 10-12 lakh. The freight charges should not be increased as it would impact the industry which already is going through slowdown.

Assocham: Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu should muster political courage and go in for a hike in the passenger fares which have been kept low at the cost of freight traffic.

Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA), Jammu: The Freight charges should not increase and the time bound delivery of goods should be ensured.

Baddi Barootiwala Nalagarh Industries Association (BBNIA): We are looking at expansion of rail network. Himachal Pradesh has been neglected in the last few years. Linking Baddi through railway network should be done fast. (KNN Bureau)
