Criteria for MSMEs for eligibility relaxed in Make procedure under DPP: Steel Secretary to KNN

New Delhi, Mar 23 (KNN) Under the Defence Procurement Policy, the criteria for MSMEs for eligibility has been relaxed in the Make procedure, A K Gupta, Secretary, Ministry of Defence (Production) said in a reply to KNN.

Some projects, which are small, have been reserved for the MSMEs, he said mentioning about the major changes done in the DPP.

He said this in his reply to a question put up by KNN India Correspondent during the Curtain Raiser Press Conference on DefExpo-2016.today.

Gupta also said that defence procurement is already up to 15% which the government is trying to push to 20 per cent.

“The identification of projects for SMEs under MAKE would be done on the basis of two categories. Under category 1 projects upto Rs 10 crore limits would be given to the MSMEs first if they are ready and similarly category 2 which is industry funded, projects upto Rs 3 crore would be reserved for the MSMEs,” said Gupta.
