HDFC Bank helps women entrepreneurs in K’taka villages repay loans

Belgaum, May 6 (KNN) HDFC Bank has come out with a unique way to help the micro women entrepreneurs from rural areas repay the loans.

The bank is conducting a capacity building training programmes in villages across the state teach different skills to the women entrepreneurs in order to help them become financially independent.

Recently, the bank conducted a 3-day capacity building training program at Aainapur, a village located in the Athni taluk of Belgaum district .

The training is conducted with the help of successful MSME women entrepreneur who acts as a resource person for the training.

“It was a 3-day programme only for the women who have taken loans from the banks for their businesses,” MSME entrepreneur Priya Puranik told KNN.

“Through the initiative, the bank motivates women to be financially independent to repay the loan,” she added.

In Anaipur, as many as 16 women took part in the programme in which they were taught different skills like stitching, parlour training etc.

“I taught them different stitching skills like designer blouses, umbrella cut skirts, school uniform stitching and more. Our aim is to make them self-employed rather than dependent,” Puranik said.

“Every month I am taking training in 4 villages. The program will be for 3 days across 30 villages,” she added.

After the training is completed, the bank also does the follow up after 1 month. The bank is helping them by providing micro finance without any security. (KNN Bureau)
