IoT is going to be the biggest factor for industries in making them smart: Expert

New Delhi, May 10 (KNN) Internet of Things (IOT) is going to be the single biggest factor in terms of how factories are becoming smart, how products are becoming smart and how this whole thing can help the industry at large, said Kalyan Sridhar-Country Head PTC India.

PTC India Limited, formerly Power Trading Corporation of India Limited, is an Indian company that provides power trading solutions, cross border power trading, and consultancy services.

PTC launched its Industry 4.0 technology suite at IITD-AIA Foundation for Smart Manufacturing (FSM), at IIT Delhi, India to the Manufacturing Industry. This marks the beginning of a strong relationship between private technology companies like PTC, academia (IIT & FSM) and government initiatives (SAMARTH UDYOG). The event showcased live demonstrations of PTC’s solutions – Industrial IoT (IIoT) and Augmented Reality (AR) technologies.

Talking to KNN India over impact of IoT have on smart manufacturing,  Sridhar said, "The impact is huge as we look at the productivity and effectiveness, companies want to do more with less so they have equipments which have operational efficiency of 50%, 40% and 60%."

Highlighting the role of the fourth industrial revolution, he said the fourth industrial revolution is about bringing in more efficiency,  its about helping people to scale up the value chain so that they can do a lot meaningful  stuff. IOT is going to help in analyzing the data and bringing information to the doorstep.

On the importance of cyber security in an era of Industry 4.0, he said cyber security becomes a very important aspect as information and data can be misused. So it is the factor thats going to impact future in terms of Industry 4.0. (KNN/CM)
