Jharkhand, Telangana bag overall achiever award for scoring 100% for implementing reforms

New Delhi, July 11 (KNN) Releasing State Business Reform Assessment 2018 at an event in New Delhi, Ramesh Abhishek, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) said that a large number of states have made significant progress in reforms suggested in Business Reform Action Plan 2017.

Andhra Pradesh being on the top has remained consistent performer throughout the years, he added.

He said 17 states have achieved a reform evidence score of more than 90 per cent and 15 have achieved a combined score of 90 per cent and more.

Recognizing the work done by various states, Ramesh Abhishek announced that the overall achiever awards goes to Jharkhand and Telangana for getting 100 percent score in implementation of all reforms.

Calling Tamil Nadu and Assam as rising stars, he said that the both states have got the highest improvement score compared to previous rounds of ranking.

Categorizing the states on the basis of best performers in respective areas, he said that for property and registration Chhattisgarh has done the best.

While Madhya Pradesh has performed best in inspection enablers, Rajasthan has topped in providing construction permits.

In terms of labor regulations West Bengal has secured top position while Karnataka has topped in environmental regulations.

For land availability and allotment, Uttarakhand has topped the list and for paying taxes Orissa secured top position.

Maharashtra is on the top list for access to infrastructure and transparency while Uttar Pradesh ahs obtained top position in obtaining utility permit and Gujarat for Environmental Regulation.

From the next year, the ranking will be based entirely on user feedback, said DIPP secretary Ramesh Abhishek. (KNN/YV)
