Bengaluru, July 27 (KNN) After securing a position of largest bus ticketing company in the country, Red-Bus, an online bus ticketing and hotel booking company founded in August 2006 is certainly an encouraging story for the budding entrepreneurs in India who now wants to break the cliché in their careers.

Red Bus was founded by Phanindra  Sama and Charan Padmaraju, young graduates from BITS Pilani.

Sama was a state ranker in Intermediate examination from the Andhra Pradesh Sr. Secondary Board and Graduated with distinction from BITS Pilani. After that he worked with Texas Instruments, Bangalore before he cofounded Red-Bus.

The duo engineers from Pilani has created this pioneering bus ticketing service with 700+ employees and has truly revolutionized bus-ticketing in India with its operations in 25 states, 1500+ operations and 35000 schedules every day.

“Our company also has 2 other allied business  that includes a Software Solution business  ”BOSS”, its a bus operator SaaS product and a market leader in its space with 500+ operators using it across the country and also a GDS business for bus “SeatSeller” that empowers majority of organized bus ticketing agencies, OTAs in India,” Sama told KNN.

Red-Bus by creating a level playing field for bus operators enables small & large operators to have access of powerful distribution network comprising 1000s of travel agent and millions of direct customers on internet and mobile.

“Our technology enables supply demand match, helps bus operators in planning their routes better and helps customers in finding busses in the routes, prices, services quality reviews, availability to choose tickets and return booked ticket facility also,” Sama said.

After securing a commendable top position with a growth rate of 4823 per cent between 2007-08 among the fastest growing companies in India in a survey done by All World Network, Red-Bus managed to gain position among top 5 start-ups list of Forbes in 2010. The star-up also won the Entrepreneur of the year award under IT / ITES category by ET NOW in 2011.

When asked about the way forward, Sama said, “Our Company envisions every bus seat in the country to be sold through one of its product.”

Red-Bus has also started expanding their business overseas as this start-up has been increasingly asked to provide technology to other countries which too have similar problems that has encountered in India. (KNN/ Zeba)
