New Delhi, Jan 21 (KNN Bureau) Uber offers the drivers a higher earning potential, a flexible life style and an opportunity to become an entrepreneur, said Uber India CEO, Amit Jain, in an exclusive interview to Knowledge & News Network.
The Uber co-founder Travis Kalanik, earlier this week, talked about his expansion plans in India. He said that the Uber could double its current committed investment of USD 1 billion in India if it sees more than five times the return.
In January this year, Uber has a market share of about 40 per cent (in India), from 4 per cent in January last year.
Talking to KNN about the game-changer for Uber in India, Jain said that, “The game-changer has been the impact that we are creating across from our rider base, to our driver base and cities. From the riders’ base, it’s a fundamentality different and easier way of commuting, which is convenient and affordable. From our drivers’ base, it’s a higher earning potential, a flexible life style and becoming an entrepreneur which many of these drivers did not have the opportunity to. And from a city perspective, we are changing how cities operate.”
Jian hailed the start-up India policy announced by PM Modi on January 16 and said it shows the progressive, forward thinking and his vision for the country. (KNN Bureau)
