Eyeing at making Amravati a dynamic economic hub, AP Govt signs MoUs with Singapore

Hyderabad, May 16 (KNN) In a bid to develop Amravati as a vibrant investment hub with dynamic economic activity, the Andhra Pradesh Government on Monday signed MoUs with the Singapore Government delegation to develop a ‘start-up’ area in the city.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that the MoU will help develop the city at par with international standards. Under the MoU, there is a proposal to develop a start-up that will have the perks to attract investment and industry in Amravati.

Also both the countries signed MoUs on economic cooperation, enhancing capacities of government department and agencies and promotion of bilateral trade and investment.

During the event, the Andhra CM said that both India and Singapore share strategic partnership. The CM further acknowledged the commitment Singapore has been giving to his state. He also thanked the delegation for being instrumental in envisioning the master plan for the city.

Naidu further informed that the proposed Start-up area will be developed on Swiss Challenge system. Also there are plans to promote walk to work atmosphere in the state. Recognizing the need to expand the tourism industry, Naidu sought cooperation from the Singapore delegation to help develop tourism in the state.

Singaporean Minister for Trade and Industry, S. Iswaran who was heading the delegation said that the signing of MoUs marks another milestone in the relationship between the two nations. He further proposed that under the MoU along with the start-up area, high quality residential, commercial and public infrastructure will be developed.

A  joint implementation committee is being constituted to track the progress of the proposal. The joint committee will meet every six month.

The Prime Minister of Singapore is also reortedly likely to visit Amravati early next year during. (KNN/MSRao)
