Finland Invites Indian Businesses To Deepen Trade, Build Circular Value Chains
New Delhi, Aug 22 (KNN) Finland has invited greater collaboration with Indian businesses to strengthen trade ties and develop competitive, resource-efficient and circular value chains amid the evolving India-EU economic landscape.
The discussions took place at the India Circular Economy Forum 2026 (ICEF2026) in New Delhi under the theme ‘Harmonising Value Chains: The New India-EU Trade Era’, according to the Embassy of Finland in India.
Antti Herlevi, Counsellor for Trade and Investments at the Embassy of Finland in New Delhi, said the circular economy should be seen as both an environmental priority and an economic opportunity, reported ANI.
He noted that over 100 Finnish companies already operate in India across clean energy, waste management, recycling, digital solutions and sustainable design, and highlighted scope for deeper partnerships to promote resource-efficient growth.
Focus On Circular And Resilient Value Chains
The forum brought together policymakers, businesses, investors and international experts to explore India-Finland cooperation on resilient and competitive value chains.
Discussions focused on circularity, traceability, resource efficiency and responsible supply chains, with a business-to-business session connecting Finnish technologies with Indian companies and opportunities.
Shalini Goyal Bhalla, Founder and Managing Director, International Council for Circular Economy, said circularity must extend beyond waste management to product design, value chains, resource use, skills and new business models to strengthen India’s competitiveness and resilience.
WCEF 2026 To Be Held In Gujarat
ICEF2026 also preceded the World Circular Economy Forum (WCEF) 2026, being held for the first time in South Asia in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, from September 15-18.
The 10th WCEF will be jointly organised by Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra and CPCB, with support from the Environment Ministry, Gujarat government and other partners.
The forum will focus on scaling circular economy solutions and strengthening global cooperation on resource efficiency and sustainable growth.
