First South Asia economic conclave to promote regional trade and investment

The Conclave is being organised with the theme ‘Achieving Inclusive Growth through Deeper Economic Integration’ to help catalyse higher growth and new job opportunities and achieve inclusive growth through deeper economic integration of the South Asia.
The event is being organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and counterpart business associations of South Asia with support from the World Bank Group.
Some of the topics under discussion at the conclave include “In Conversation: Championing One South Asia”, “Special Plenary Session: Trade Integration Experiences from other parts of the World”, “Investment across Borders: The Potential and the Pioneers”, “Doing Business in South Asia”, “Role of Media in Economic Integration”, “Expanding Intraregional Trade: Drawing Lessons from ASEAN and NAFTA”, “The Power of 1.6 billion: A Blueprint for Prosperity”, “The Secrets and Successes of Value Chains: Learning from ASEAN”, “Can Creative Industries Bridge the Barriers?”, “Powering South Asia: Connecting Grids”, and some breakout sessions on “Yaatra South Asia – Expanding the scope for Tourism”, “Writing a New Chapter in Building Human Resource”, “A Way Forward for South Asia : A Youth Perspective” among others.
Over 400 delegates from all the South Asian countries will be participating in the event.
Ministers from countries including India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal among others will be addressing the conclave. (KNN Bureau)
