New Delhi, May 5 (KNN) Giving a platform to the start-ups from India and Germany in the Energy Sector to interact with the corporates, mentors, technology experts, and other key stakeholders on how to develop their products and services, GIZ India is organizing a bootcamp in Berlin, Germany in July, 2016.

GIZ India along with its partners Bosch and Intellecap have joined hands with Social Impact and SAP from Germany to conduct a 10 days bootcamp for impact driven product/ service start-ups in the Energy sector – including social, digital or technology start-ups in Berlin end of July.

The bootcamp will run at the Social Impact Lab in Berlin over a period of 10 days, and is open to impact driven product/ service start-ups in the Energy sector – including social, digital or technology innovation, both from India and Germany.

During this bootcamp, start-ups will have the opportunity to develop their products or services further, validate business plans, exchange ideas, develop synergies and build globally competitive businesses.

Bootcamp is conducted as part of the Strategic Alliance – an initiative implemented by GIZ in cooperation with Bosch and Intellecap under the develop PPP.de framework of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation & Development (BMZ) – that seeks to connect corporates with incubators and start-ups and especially social enterprises.

In this context, GIZ India has sought for applications from the Indian start-ups willing to be a part of the bootcamp by May 31, 2016.

A total of 10 spots are available out of which there would be 5 Indian and 5 German participants representing 10 companies. All the program related cost for the participant, 1 from each selected start-up, will be borne by GIZ India.

India and Germany are keen to promote the (social) start-up eco-system along with its required support structure. International best practices suggest that there is a huge potential in involving the corporate sector in start-up incubation. An increasing number of corporates are looking into partnering with existing incubators.

The reasons for these partnerships are manifold. While incubators look for mentors and expertise for their incubatees as well as potential customers, corporates engage with incubators to identify new innovative ideas as well as potential delivery channels that support access to markets in remote locations.

However, capacities of Indian incubators to strategically engage with corporates persist to be weak.

Additionally, for many corporates it remains difficult to identify appropriate engagement mechanisms, be it as part of their business development activities or as part of the new 2% CSR rule.

The joint work under the alliance seeks to address this gap by creating systematic engagement mechanisms, strengthening incubation capacities and creating opportunities for corporates to partner with innovative start-ups.

Bootcamp would be held from 18-27 July, 2016 in Berlin. (KNN Bureau)
