India and Japan Review Bilateral Defence Cooperation in Ministerial Talks in New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 20 (KNN) Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will hold bilateral talks with Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi in New Delhi on August 20 to review and further strengthen defence and security cooperation between the two countries.

The discussions are expected to focus on maritime security cooperation, defence equipment and technology collaboration, and new areas of partnership under the Make in India framework.

The two sides will also discuss a roadmap for expanding bilateral defence cooperation and promoting stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

Ahead of the meeting, Koizumi, on his maiden visit to India, visited the Western Naval Command in Mumbai on August 19.

He held discussions with Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan and Western Naval Command Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan and was briefed on the Indian Navy's operational capabilities.

The visit comes amid growing India-Japan defence cooperation, with both countries sharing a common vision for a free, open and resilient Indo-Pacific.
