India, Chile Accelerate CEPA Talks to Strengthen Trade and Investment Ties

New Delhi, Aug 31 (KNN) India and Chile advanced negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), with both sides discussing ways to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.

Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal met Paula Estévez Weinstein, Vice-Minister of International Economic Relations of Chile, in Santiago on August 26 to discuss progress on the CEPA negotiations.

The discussions focused on developing a balanced and commercially meaningful agreement that can create greater opportunities for businesses in both countries.

Agrawal highlighted potential for increased economic cooperation in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, minerals, agriculture, machinery and engineering.

India reiterated its commitment to concluding the CEPA negotiations by the end of 2026, with the agreement expected to facilitate greater trade and investment while strengthening cooperation in technology, talent and supply chains.

Both sides also emphasised the growing India-Chile economic relationship and the potential for the CEPA to provide further momentum to bilateral trade.
