India is the right place for making investment as it holds huge potential: DIPP Secretary

New Delhi, Aug 30 (KNN) India’s improved policy, better governance and better infrastructure will provide flood of opportunities to Taiwanese companies to do more business in India, said Ramesh Abhishek, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Secretary.

Speaking at the 2nd Taiwan-India Industrial Collaboration Summit organized by Federation of Indian Chamber and Commerce Industry (FICCI), he said “this is a good time for investment in India as India is likely to become almost 10 trillion dollar economy by 2030.

He said that the department will set up Taiwan Plus cell to help and handhold all the Taiwanese who want to do business in India and who want to expand business in India.

He said further to bring ease in doing business in India, “we are removing all the bottlenecks and obstacles in areas like infrastructure, logistics and skill development.”

He also asked Taiwanese companies to invest in India as the country holds huge potential.

India jumped 30 places to rank 100th in the last ease of doing business index, he added and said “we are again optimistic that we will make a significant jump in the coming ease of doing business ranking.

Taiwan's excellence in electronics and smartphone manufacture and India's talent and skills, conducive business environment and liberal investment policies provide the right opportunity for collaboration, said Tien Chung-Kwang, Representative of Taipei Economic Affairs of Taiwan.

Calling India the land of opportunities, he said India itself has elevated their image internationally and domestically also they have changed the way of doing business, he added.

During the event, Indian and Taiwanese companies signed MoUs for wide-ranging collaboration to further strengthen the ongoing industrial collaboration.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) Secretary, Ramesh Abhishek and Vice Minister, Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, Ms Mei-Hua Wang, at the 2nd India-Taiwan Industrial Collaboration Summit.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Minister, Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan, Mei-Hua Wang, spoke of the need to tap the growing opportunities for business and industrial collaboration in India.

Taiwan is an important business partner and we must take the opportunity to deepen the business ties further,” said Som Mittal, Chair, FICCI Electronics & White Goods Manufacturing Committee.
