India replaces Brazil as top food exporter to Arab countries

New Delhi, 8 Dec (KNN) As per Reuters, India has become the number one exporter of food to the League of Arab states and has surpassed Brazil for the first time in 15 years.

This data was provided to Reuters by the Arab-Brazil Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.

India has captured 8.25 per cent of Brazil’s total agribusiness products imported to the Arab nations, owing to the dent in logistics created by the pandemic.

As the chamber stated, shipments from Brazil which earlier took 30 days could now take up 60 days which gives an added advantage to India due to its geographic proximity to these nations delivering shipments in 1 week.

Moreover, countries such as Turkey, the United States, France and Argentina has taken over Brazil’s position in exports.

The Arab League is a regional organisation of Arab states in the Middle East and parts of Africa. It comprises of Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Transjordan (now Jordan), Saudi Arabia, and Yemen.

Libya, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco, Kuwait, Algeria, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Mauritania, Somalia, the Palestine Liberation Organization, Djibouti, and Comoros are the other members of this league.
