India To Deploy 1,000 Advisors, Upgrade Trade Portal To Help Firms Leverage India-UK CETA: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, Jun 27 (KNN) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday announced the deployment of 1,000 advisory personnel across India and the upgrade of the government's trade portal to help businesses maximise benefits under the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). 

Speaking at the 10th Annual UK-India Week in London, Goyal urged Indian businesses to adopt international quality standards and position themselves as early movers as the agreement takes effect.

Goyal said, "The India-UK CETA will enhance market access, improve the competitiveness of Indian enterprises, facilitate greater mobility for professionals and create new opportunities across goods, services and investment." 

The minister welcomed the largest and most geographically diverse Indian business delegation to visit the United Kingdom, which included significant participation from enterprises in tier II and tier III cities as well as several first-time exporters.

He urged Indian businesses to adopt global quality standards and deepen trade and investment ties with the United Kingdom as the agreement takes effect.

"The India-UK partnership has expanded beyond traditional trade to encompass strategic sectors such as technology, sovereign AI, critical minerals, defence and clean energy," Goyal noted.

The minister also highlighted region-to-region linkages — specifically Birmingham-Gujarat and Manchester-Maharashtra — as potential drivers of future bilateral economic growth, and encouraged businesses on both sides to leverage opportunities created by the pact.
