New Delhi, Aug 13 (KNN) The Ministry of Mines on Wednesday conducted a webinar titled “India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and Benefits to the Indian Mineral Sector” under the chairmanship of V.L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Mines.

The session aimed to bring together stakeholders from India’s mineral industry to explore the potential advantages and opportunities arising from the proposed India-UK CETA.

The discussion focused on how the agreement could boost trade, enhance competitiveness, and open new avenues for collaboration between the two nations.

In his address, V.L. Kantha Rao highlighted significant prospects for the Indian mineral sector, with special emphasis on the aluminium industry.

He noted that the agreement could provide greater market access in the UK, thereby improving the global competitiveness of Indian mineral products.

The Secretary stressed the importance of understanding product demand in the UK to fully leverage the provisions of CETA.

He recommended conducting targeted roadshows to identify market trends and promote Indian mineral products effectively.

Additionally, he underlined the scope for increased research and development partnerships between India and the UK.

Such collaborations, he said, could drive innovation, improve production efficiency, and strengthen bilateral trade relations.

The webinar served as a platform for industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to exchange ideas on maximizing the benefits of the trade agreement, ensuring the Indian mineral sector remains well-positioned in the evolving global market.
