India–Slovenia JCTEC Meeting Reviews Bilateral Economic Engagement & Explores Sectoral Cooperation
New Delhi, Nov 26 (KNN) The 10th Session of the India–Slovenia Joint Committee on Trade and Economic Cooperation (JCTEC) was held in New Delhi, co-chaired by Saket Kumar, Joint Secretary, Commerce and Industry Ministry, India, and Peter Japelj, Director General, Economic, Cultural and Scientific Diplomacy, Foreign and European Affairs Ministry, Slovenia.
The session reviewed bilateral economic engagement, explored sectoral cooperation, and outlined a roadmap for enhancing trade and investment between the two countries.
Discussions focused on agriculture, chemicals and pharmaceuticals, health, transport, energy, tourism, MSMEs, and Ayurveda and traditional systems of medicine, alongside other trade and business matters.
Bilateral trade between India and Slovenia has steadily grown in recent years, reflecting the resilience and depth of the partnership.
Both sides highlighted Slovenia’s strategic location in Central Europe and India’s expanding European engagement as a foundation for strengthening collaboration in trade, technology, innovation, and connectivity.
The delegates expressed optimism over the early conclusion of a balanced India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors.
During his visit, Japelj also met Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agrawal to discuss ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.
The 10th JCTEC reaffirmed India’s commitment to economic partnership with Slovenia, grounded in mutual trust, shared values, and enduring friendship, while setting the stage for deeper collaboration between India and Europe.
