MoS Jitin Prasada Begins Morocco Visit to Strengthen Trade & Investment Cooperation

New Delhi, Aug 24 (KNN) Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics & Information Technology Jitin Prasada is on an official visit to Morocco from August 24-25 to strengthen bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation.

During the visit, Prasada will co-chair the 7th India-Morocco Joint Commission with Omar Hejira, Secretary of State to Morocco's Minister of Industry and Trade in charge of Foreign Trade. 

Discussions will cover trade and market access, fertilisers, investment, industrial cooperation, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, energy, mining, renewable energy, digital transformation, transport and logistics.

The two countries are also expected to sign an MoU between Morocco's National Office of Food Safety (ONSSA) and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) to strengthen cooperation on food safety, quality standards, testing and related procedures.

A Cultural Exchange Programme for 2026-2030 is also expected to be signed to promote cooperation in areas including cultural exchanges, festivals, heritage conservation, museums and libraries.

India-Morocco bilateral merchandise trade stood at around USD 4 billion in 2025. India exports refined petroleum, pharmaceuticals, vehicles, synthetic textiles, food products and spices to Morocco, while major imports include phosphates and fertilisers.

Prasada will also hold meetings with senior Moroccan leaders, participate in the India-Morocco Joint Business Forum and interact with business representatives to explore opportunities for trade, investment, partnerships and joint ventures.
