UAE Expresses Strong Interest In Investing In Kerala’s Healthcare, Tourism, and Tech Sectors
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 24 (KNN) The United Arab Emirates has expressed keen interest in investing across multiple sectors in Kerala, including healthcare, tourism, food processing, and technology, marking a significant advancement in the economic partnership between the two regions.
UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri made this announcement while attending the Invest Kerala Global Summit.
Leading a 22-member delegation at the summit, Minister Marri emphasised that the UAE's investment strategy aims to address global challenges while promoting economic growth.
The minister highlighted specific focus areas including healthcare accessibility, food security enhancement, and technological innovation.
This commitment was immediately demonstrated through UAE-based Sharaf Group's announcement of a Rs 5,000 crore investment plan in Kerala.
The strengthening bilateral relationship extended beyond economic initiatives into community engagement, as exemplified by the 'Year of Community Run' organised by the North Malabar Chamber of Commerce.
The event, integrated into the 8th edition of the Kannur Beach Run, paid tribute to UAE's 2025 theme, designated as the 'Year of Community.'
Minister Marri participated in the 5-kilometer run alongside VPS Healthcare's Chairman and Managing Director Shamsheer Vayalil and more than 100 other participants.
The Kannur Beach Run 2025 emerged as a significant demonstration of the growing cultural and social bonds between the UAE and Kerala, attracting over 1,000 participants across various race categories.
The event organisers emphasised that such initiatives serve to strengthen community-driven efforts between both nations while promoting awareness of sports, wellness, and social engagement.
The dual focus on economic investment and community engagement signals a comprehensive approach to strengthening UAE-Kerala relations, combining strategic economic partnerships with grassroots-level cultural exchange.
This multifaceted engagement suggests a long-term commitment to developing deeper bilateral ties between the regions.
