Bengaluru, Jan 29 (KNN)  There are certain legal and market requirements and conformity assessment options to sell products in the European Union member states.  To bring awareness on these aspects a two day workshop will be held here from March 2-3.

Organised by UL Knowledge Solutions India, the workshop on ‘CE Marking: Strategies for European Compliance’ is designed to provide essential information about the European regulatory system and step-by-step instructions on how to develop a compliance strategy right for your company’s needs.

Participants will get all the important fundamentals, including definitions of key terms and details about relevant European directives and standards, as well as higher-level insights to help them effectively manage their European compliance activities and streamline time-to-market.

Additionally, each participant will receive a CE Marking artwork, a sample Declaration of Conformity, and copies of the Low Voltage, EMC and Machinery Directives.

The last date to register for the workshop is February-16.

The CE marking indicates a product’s compliance with EU legislation and so enables the free movement of products within the European market. By affixing the CE marking to a product, a manufacturer declares, on his sole responsibility, that the product meets all the legal requirements for the CE marking, which means that the product can be sold throughout the European Economic Area (EEA, the 28 Member States of the EU and European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein). This also applies to products made in other countries which are sold in the EEA.

The workshop topics include: The European Regulatory System; European Terminology; Risk Assessment; Directives; Certification Schemes; The Low Voltage Directive; The Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive; The Machinery Directive; Other Directives, an overview of other CE Marking directives other than Low Voltage, EMC and Machinery Documentation; Developing a Conformity Assessment Strategy; and European Conformity Assessment Trends.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to identify relevant European directives and standards; create effective documentation, including the Technical File and Declaration of Conformity; use the Low Voltage, EMC, and Machinery Directives to recognize key elements, distinctions and nuances among the New Approach Directives; increase communication effectiveness with customers to determine their compliance expectations; and analyze the benefits and limitations of available conformity assessment options

Further, participants will be conversant on how to select and use Notified/Competent Bodies and other key players in the European system; learn a step-by-step method to develop and implement an effective European compliance strategy; prepare contingency plans to respond to market changes; distinguish between market and legal requirements – and understand why the European market may want more than the legally required CE Marking.
