Academia, Industry and Government agencies to come together under IIT Mumbai GBF 2015

Mumbai, April 11 (KNN) With an aim to improve collaboration between businesses, governments and academia, drive innovation and provide solutions to economic challenges in India, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay Alumni Association (IITBAA) launched Global Business Forum.

Endorsed by the Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, also an IIT-B alumnus, it will feature original technology, business, expertise in energy, education and skill development, healthcare, environment, infrastructure, smart cities, information, communication technology and manufacturing and research from the IIT Bombay community.

The Alumni is gearing towards showcasing 80 start-ups i. e 10 start-ups by eight Special Interest groups (SIGs) in October when GBF meets in Goa (16-18 October). The eight special interest group will include Education and Skills, Healthcare, Energy, Environment (Water), infrastructure, Smart cities, Information Communication Technology (ICT), Make-in-India (Manufacturing).

For the first time the Forum will bring together the academia, industry and IIT-Mumbai alumni together. The forum will bring together more than 1000 IIT-B alumni working in 13 different countries to create sustainable business models to address various issues being faced by the nation, 10 state and central government ministries, 200 industry partners, students and faculty members.

About 1100 IIT-B alumni from different countries, faculty, researchers, policy makers, bureaucrats, investors, entrepreneurs, chief technical officers, top industrialists, central cabinet ministers and state chief ministers are expected to attend the event. (KNN/SS)
