The report by India Exim Bank, titled ‘Reinvigorating India’s Economic Engagements with Southern Africa’, was released at the inauguration of the CII-Exim Bank Regional Conclave on India-Southern Africa Growth Partnership.

“India has emerged as a leading defence exporter in recent years and it holds the capability to fulfil Africa’s maritime, aerospace and defence requirements,” the report pointed out.

According to the Exim Bank report, Mauritius, Mozambique and Seychelles became the major buyers of Indian arms between 2017-2021.

The island nation of Mauritius alone accounted for 6.6 per cent of India’s arms exports during 2017-21, followed by Mozambique at 5 per cent and Seychelles at 2.3 per cent.

The Ministry of Defence in recent times has been taking innumerable steps to help India achieve its vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ in defence.  (KNN Bureau)
