All you need to know about DSIR’s Common Research and Technology Development Hubs

New Delhi, Apr 26 (KNN) The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) has established three Common Research and Technology Development Hubs (CRTDHs) in Palampur, Hyderabad and Thiruvanthapuram. In a reply to queries from KNN, G.M. Bagai, Scientist ‘G’ & Head, Common Research & Technology Development Hubs, DSIR elaborated the details about hubs.

He said DSIR has established three Common Research and Technology Development Hubs (CRTDHs) with the following objectives:

  1. To encourage research and technology development activities by MSEs.
  2. To enable MSEs conduct industrial R&D and innovation activities.
  3. These hubs would facilitate MSEs to undertake new/improved product/process development and skill enhancement activities.
  4. The collaborating institutions would extend hands-on training, skill development and research information facilities to the MSEs, apart from research and technology development infrastructure.              

Thus, major objective of CRTDH is to facilitate productivity and competitiveness of small and medium scale industries by providing scientific and technological support, infrastructure, sophisticated analytical as well advanced research equipment facility for carrying out competitive technological research to translate new ideas into marketable products, utilize already developed technologies available in institutes/laboratories for taking them to market, problem-solving and capacity-building.

This will help in innovative product development on the lines of Make-in India mission, he added.
