Amazon onboards over 9,000 sellers from North East region before festive season

Guwahati, Sep 21 (KNN) Over 9,000 sellers from the North-eastern region have registered with the company and are looking forward to benefit from this festive season, said Amazon India Director (Director External Fulfilment) Kshitij Jain on Tuesday.

To attract more traders from the Northeast region, e-commerce giant Amazon India has decided to waive off 50 per cent of the selling fee during the upcoming festive season.

“The company will continue to make investments in empowering sellers to scale up their business, catering to customers anywhere in India and the world using e-commerce, he said.

The sellers from the region will be showcasing authentic and wide range of products, including raw honey, Santipuri Bengal cotton handloom sarees, handmade wicker accessories and grass and bamboo items.

As per reports, 50 per cent waiver on referral fees will be provided to new sellers who register on Amazon between August 28 to October 26. The fee waiver includes businesses of all sizes, including local stores, traditional weavers and artisans, women entrepreneurs as well as startups and digital entrepreneurs.

To support artisans and weavers, Amazon has been partnering with government bodies like Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED), North Eastern Handicrafts and Handloom Development Corp (NEHHDC) and Manipur Handloom & Handicrafts Development Corp Ltd (MHHDCL).  (KNN Bureau)
