Noida, Aug 24 (KNN)  Amity Business School (ABS), a part of the Amity University and TATA Motors have signed a 5 year MOU for training of field work managers for various TATA Service Centres.

“ABS is a strategic partner of TATA Motors for the prestigious Prime Minister Skill Development Program - UDAAN, an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation of the Government of India. Under this scheme, 45 Works Manager Trainees from the State of Jammu and Kashmir would be trained by Amity Business School during a three month Residential Management Training,” said an ABS press release.

Addressing participants from Jammu and Kashmir during the inauguration of the training program yesterday, Additional Secretary – Ministry of Home Affairs, K. Skandan said, “it is a right for you to work in any corporate sector in India.  NSDC and Tata are facilitators to help you to take first step to enter into the corporate world.”

He said there would be lots of challenges and that was why they needed management and leadership skills.  “Acquire the skills and knowledge and live life greatly,” he told them.

The move to collaborate with NSDC under UDAAN scheme is to create employment opportunities for the educated youth of Jammu and Kashmir by providing them with skilful practical knowledge of vehicle operations with management expertise, said Global Head Customer Care – Tata Motors, Sanjeev Garg.

The training programme, he said would be divided into two parts.  While the first three months at ABS would see participants learn management aspects, the remaining three months would be spent at the Jamshedpur centre of Tata Motors where they will learn about operations.

Garg assured participants that after the training, they would be recruited by dealers of Tata Motors and after 2-3 years, when Tata needed manpower they would absorb them into Tata Motors.

Tata Motors is the largest automobile company in India with 67 per cent market share, their key elements of growth in business being customer and channel partner.  “In customer care, we look into exceeding customer expectations and increasing channel partner profitability,” he said.

Also speaking on the occasion, “UDAAN is a special industry initiative for Jammu and Kashmir envisaged as an industry led program, wherein the corporates will tap into the large pool of educated youth of the state and provide them training to make them employment ready,” said Abhishek Hegde of National Skill Development Corporation.

“This is the flagship program of TATA motors under UDAAN scheme.  NSDC has around 33 corporates enrolled under this scheme.  This is a unique opportunity for youths of J&K to brighten their career prospects and upgrade skills for better jobs,” Hegde added.

On the need for the programme, Director – Amity Business School, Sanjiv Bansal said, skill gap was a burning issue in the country.   He went on to say that a University may not provide the required skills as it lacked applied centric and field centric learning.

However, he assured them that their endeavour was to make them industry ready, the programme being vital for future job prospects.  (KNN/ES)
