New Delhi, Feb 24 (KNN) The MSME associations in Karnataka are jointly organizing an awareness programme on ‘Roof Top Solar Power Generation’ to encourage the SMEs to utilize space on their rooftop buildings in generating power.

During the programme experts would deliberate on topics such Roof Top Solar Power Policies, Technologies & Economics, Grid Connection, Net Metering and Financing and other related subjects.

Laghu Udyog Bharathi - National Industrial Organization, Mysore Industries Association representing Industries of Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagara Districts in Association with Ministry of New & Renewable Energy Government of Indian, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd, Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Ltd and District Industries Centre, Mysuru are together organizing the programme in Mysuru on February 29.

Investors and Project Developers, Key Policy Makers and Government Officials, Financial Institutions including Banks, Funds, Financial Service Providers, Advisors and Consultants, Project Technology and Service Providers, Equipment Manufacturers, EPC, OEM and Engineering Firms would be participating at the event.

“Solar power offers the potential to generate electricity with no global warming pollution, no other emissions, no fuel costs, and no risks of fuel price spike. India is facing a huge energy demand and the country has tremendous scope of generating solar energy,” said the organizers.

A large potential is available for generating solar power using unutilized space on rooftops of buildings. The Government of India has set a challenging target of installing 4,200 MW of Grid-Interactive Rooftop Solar PV Plants during the next five years up to 2019-20 under the National Solar Mission (NSM).

“Today it is possible to generate solar power from the solar rooftop systems at a nominal rate of Rs.6.50/kWh. This is much cheaper than the electricity generated through diesel gen-sets,” the organizers said.

In India, 26 States have notified their regulations to provide Net Metering / Gross metering facilities to support solar rooftops installations. Importance of installing Solar power generation plants should be educated to each and every individual household, industry, Institution, shops and commercial establishments, they added. (KNN Bureau)
