Citizens’ confidence to establish startup, small business in India to grow by 60%: Survey

New Delhi, May 31 (KNN) The confidence among citizens to establish, operate and grow a startup or small business in India is likely to grow by 60 per cent this year as compared to 44 per cent in 2021 which was higher than 37 per cent in 2020.

According to a survey by Local Circles, there has been a gradually increase in the number of citizens that said that it is easier to start a small business or startup in India.

With regards employment opportunities, only 37 per cent of the people polled believe unemployment has improved over time.

Over 221,000 responses were received in this survey from over 64,000 unique citizens located across 350 districts of India.

In view of reduction in harassment by tax officials, 60 per cent of citizens in the survey expressed their confidence that harassment by tax officials has reduced in the last 3 years. 

Looking at the overall approval rating of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there has been a significant rise since the start of the pandemic though there are concerns over surging prices of essential items and unemployment, said the survey.

Modi government has exceeded expectations in the second term, according to 67 per cent of the people polled. This is a jump from 51 per cent last year when the second wave of Covid-19 infections overwhelmed hospitals and crematoriums and 62 per cent in 2020 when the pandemic began.  (KNN Bureau)
