New Delhi, July 20 (KNN) Indian companies are not optimistic about a speedy economic recovery in the next six months compared with the last quarter of the previous year, said a study.

According to Bizcon ASSOCHAM study for June 2015, against 82.6 per cent in March 2015 that the prospects should improve in the coming months, the ratio of such optimist firms has come down to 54.8 per cent.

As for the present scenario, 61.5 per cent of them felt that the situation is more or less same vis-à-vis situation six months back, it said.

ASSOCHAM General Secretary DS Rawat said some other important measures suggested by respondents to revive industry are keeping inflation low, further  containing  trade deficit, better coordination with state government, SMEs promotion, time bound settlement of issues, continues monitoring plan  for implementation of projects and simplification of taxation and industrial polices.

The survey said the government is making big efforts to make things better for the industry but there are several factors such as state of global economy, highly leveraged balance sheets which are dampening the investment and demand situation.

As regards employment, not much change seems to have taken place during April to June 2015 as 51.6 percent respondents felt so. In the short horizon also, the survey indicates that there will be no change in the employment scenario in the industry, it said.

The most important trigger for reviving the industrial growth would be infrastructure development, followed by effective policy reform, speed in project clearances, reducing cost of borrowings and the stable foreign exchange. However, the external outlook looks worrying when it comes to goods exports which have declined for the seventh month in a row, the survey noted. (KNN Bureau)
