Surat, July 5 (KNN) The Central Goods and Services Tax department will organise a one-day awareness camp with a series of events in Surat on July 7.

This is a part of the six years of Goods and Services Tax (GST). 

On July 1, 2017, GST was introduced by the central government across the country.

During the event, facilitation and redressal of issues related to GST registration, refunds, adjudication and others will be done. 

Suggestions and feedback will also be collected from taxpayers, practitioners, citizens and other stakeholders for further improvement in CGST tax administration and measures for enhancing revenue collection.

Major events include a panel discussion involving taxpayers, experts, practitioners and GST officers on issues related to the topic 'GST: Future Roadmap for Promoting MSME Sectors & Start Ups in South Gujarat'.

According to CGST officials, year 2022-23 witnessed a buoyant growth of Central GST revenue in the jurisdiction of CGST Commissionerate Surat covering the districts of Surat, Valsad, Navsari, Tapi & Dang.

During this period the Central GST Surat collected revenue amounting Rs 7,825 crore, a growth of 19% over the previous financial year.  (KNN Bureau)
