Bhubaneswar, Aug 27 (KNN)  International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhubaneswar will soon be given unitary university status with the passing of IIIT-Bhubaneswar Bill in the state assembly.

“Odisha Assembly passes IIIT-Bhubaneswar Bill, which envisages to make it a unitary university,” said IIIT-Bhubaneswar.

The university will work closely with the government, industry and other users of the technology to develop and deliver industrial solutions to enhance their service delivery.

The status given will enable the institution to innovate and pursue its objectives without depending on any other state-run bodies.

The Odisha-sponsored varsity had started imparting education in information technology and related areas of computer science and engineering since 2007-08.

IIIT Bhubaneswar started the Master in Technology programme in computer science and engineering in 2007-08.

The institute started the Bachelor in Technology programme in four disciplines in 2009-10 with approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and affiliation of Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT).  (KNN/GUNJ)
