New Delhi, Sept 25 (KNN)  PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) and the South African High Commission are jointly organizing a seminar on ‘Opportunities in the Agro-Processing Sector between India and South Africa’ on September-26.

“There are vast opportunities for cooperation in the agro-processing sector between the two countries, including the import of intermediate food items that are used in the Indian food processing industry,” said a notice from PHDCCI.

The event would see a delegation from South Africa consisting of representatives from the agro-processing sector.

The seminar will be followed by a B2B session in the afternoon, which would provide an excellent opportunity for stakeholders to discuss and know about the various opportunities in the processed food and agro sector between the two countries.

That India’s relations with South Africa have flourished over the years is evident from the bilateral trade between the two countries that has grown substantially from USD 7.5 billion in 2008-09 to USD 14 billion in 2012-13.

South Africa constitutes 1.7 per cent share in India's total exports and 3.4 per cent share in India's total imports.

An MOU on Cooperation in the Field of Agriculture and Allied Sectors was signed In June 2010, during the visit of the President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma to India.  (KNN/ES)
