The objective of the conference is to bring experts from packaging material manufacturers, converters, designers, FMCG and other user industries and e-commerce business on a single platform to share latest development in the field of packaging for better living.

Institutes of Packaging (five at present), are autonomous bodies working under the ministry of commerce to promote packaging awareness, packaging education and to promote exports through innovative design and packaged products.

The experts would deliberate on the latest technologies, solutions in packaging related topics including regulatory requirements.

“Approximately 80 per cent of the packed products are used by 20 per cent of the country’s population and hence there is a need for latest packaging materials, design, sustainable approach and technology for better life style and livelihood which will enable to compete with the best in the world market,” IIP said.

The conference would be held on February 19-20 at the Eros Hotel in New Delhi.

According to a study conducted by NSIC, MSME units in the packaging sector are lacking with updated technologies, non-availability of proper resources, R&D activities to face market and quality challenges.

Milan Dey, President of Eastern India Corrugated Box Manufacturers Associations, said that the packaging industry is growing at the rate of 8 per cent.

He said that the growth of the industry would be by atleast 50 per cent in the next 5 years.

However, the EICBMA President said that the Chinese technology is entering the market so there is a need for technological upgradation to remain competitive. (KNN Bureau)
