MSME-DIs have provided training to more than 60 thousand people in 2014-15

Activities of MSME-DIs are helpful in bridging the gap between entrepreneurs and academicians, Minister of State, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Giriraj Singh in a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha.
In the recent years, there is 10 per cent consistent increase in EM filing. This is an indicator for increase in production index, he added.
Assistance is provided to potential entrepreneurs visiting MSME Development Institutes (MSME-DIs) in identifying the project, product or service suitable for them keeping in view their qualifications and resources. Besides this, they are given information on various technology options, availability of raw material, manpower and regulatory requirements etc, if any.
The entrepreneurship and skill development programmes are organized by the MSME-DIs situated in all the states in different parts of the country are conducted and co-ordinated by Field/Technical officers posted in these Institutes. However, expert guest faculties in different subjects/topics are invited from different specialized institutes, Government departments & agencies, industries associations, financial agencies and industry etc. to give inputs.
