MVIRDC Mumbai to begin year-long online training series on International Trade from March 3

Mumbai, Feb 14 (KNN) MVIRDC World Trade Center Mumbai will launch a 12-session virtual training series spread over 12 months on International Trade commencing on March 3, 2023.

Expert faculty will hold sessions on each module every month for two hours on Microsoft teams.

Trade professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs can participate in each or all modules with fees of Rs 500 per module or Rs 6,000 for all modules plus GST, as per their requirements.

Speaking about the relevance of this training series, Dr Vijay Kalantri, Chairman, WTC Mumbai remarked, “India has set USD 1 trillion merchandise export vision for 2030. We need to create highly skilled exporters and trade professionals who can handle the complexity of trade regulations and global market developments to attain this grand vision.”

“This training series will address the existing skill gap among exporters and trade professionals by imparting trade-specific skills,” he added.

Commenting on the training series, Ajay Srivastava Co-founder- GTRI and Former Addl. DGFT, New Delhi said, “The program will provide an understanding of the steps involved in export import business and discuss insights into how Indian exporters can take advantage of India’s free trade agreements.”

One module will be dedicated to the flagship manufacturing programs of the Government of India – Performance Linked Incentive Scheme.

The topics of the modules include trade rules, process, procedures, product identification, markets, WTO rules, negotiations and subsidies, RoDTEP, PLI, strategies to handle anti-dumping duties and countervailing duties among others.

“The session on WTO will highlight the relevance of WTO agreements for industry and trade and also suggest how these stakeholders can seek to promote their interests through WTO negotiations. The session on subsidies will cover an overview of WTO rules related to subsidies,” said Abhijit Das Former Head-Centre for WTO Studies, IIFT, New Delhi.

The dates for the first three sessions are March 3, April 7 and May 5 and the dates for modules 4-12 will be announced quarterly.
