Agra, Aug 17 (KNN) Just as processes of production may vary, the method of obtaining measurements and data may also have variation and defects.

To understand what is causing variation in dimensions and improve quality of goods, the government is coming up with a programme on Measurement System Analysis (MSA) for small entrepreneurs in Gurgaon next week.

“The programme will cover all the statistical techniques such as control charts, histograms and capability analysis. It will provide background theory of statistical process control and tips for implementation in the shop floor,” according to the Process and Product Development Centre which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.

Sometimes good products get rejected due to inadequate measurement system. The entrepreneurs will learn the reason behind getting different results from suppliers and customers through the programme.

Further, the programme will introduce the system of measurement, its repeatability and reproducibility.

MSA is a specially designed experiment that seeks to identify the components of variation in the measurement. The systems evaluates the test method, measuring instruments and the entire process of obtaining measurements to ensure the integrity of data used for analysis.

It is an important element of Six Sigma methodology and other quality management systems. (KNN/GUNJ)
