To keep a check on the progress of skill initiatives, the state department of skill development and entrepreneurship has set up a 10-member state monitoring committee headed by the secretary for skill development.

“The initiative aims at creating shared infrastructure, aligning with the needs of the local economy and addressing the needs of all target segments for vocational training and developing well-defined pathways for students to continue with their chosen academic-vocational pursuits,” Dipak Desai, director for skill development said.

The 10 member committee will be responsible for overseeing the regular functioning of the Skill Hubs pilot, recommending policy or operational corrections for improving its implementation, reviewing, and approving of proposals in accordance with the guidelines or any other functions as deemed necessary.

The committee will undertake a periodic review of the allocated training targets to all types of identified Skill Hubs within the state. It can also nominate non-official members to the committee to provide additional expert advice and support.

The Skill Hub initiative has been designed by the ministry of skill development and entrepreneurship, and other stakeholder Union ministries for implementation of skill component under National Education Policy (NEP).
