TN govt organises training on solar products for MSMEs

“The courses are being offered in the backdrop of energy deficiency and the solar energy policy of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The government policy makes it mandatory for large-scale power consumers to meet six per cent of their energy requirements from solar power by 2014,” said Director, EDI in a press release.
The duration of each programme is month-long or 120 hours. Promotion of self-employment opportunities and creation of small-scale enterprises based on solar power are the core objectives of the EDI programmes that fall under the purview of the Department of MSME, Government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai.
Participants will be trained in solar power generation and solar products. Technical inputs will be in the form of design and cost details, installation, manufacture and marketing of solar electric systems/products.
Also, procedural guidance to set up enterprises based on solar power, preparation of a viable business plan and schemes of financial assistance, including incentives/ concessions offered by government for promoting solar energy will be discussed.
The training will be conducted at the Tamil Nadu Industrial Training Centre, Anna Salai, Chennai, which is a knowledge partner for the programme.
Admissions will be given on a first-come-first served basis to candidates possessing a degree/diploma in informtion technology. (KNN)
