Young entrepreneurs honoured for innovative solutions

New Delhi, Mar 25, (KNN)  Life on Wheels, Laadli and Electric Auto Rickshaws bagged the first three awards during the grand finale of the Next Great Entrepreneur Business Plan Competition organised by the US Embassy, FICCI and Indian Angels Network (IAN) on March 23rd
                          
Awards were given for three categories – general business, women’s empowerment and green business.  The competition aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and helping young innovators develop solutions was also intended to strengthen US – India business ties. 
 
While Life on Wheels, a microfinance project that supports rickshaw pullers received top honour for the general business category; Laadli that aims to produce low cost reusable sanitary napkins for rural Indian women received the award for women’s empowerment and Electric Auto Rickshaws was applauded for the green business category.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Consul General Thompson explained, “The U.S. Embassy sponsored the Next Great Entrepreneur competition because we know that the next generation of entrepreneurs will play an equal if not more important role in contributing to India’s growth and deepening of the U.S. India partnership.”
 
"Never underestimate the power of an idea, keep pursuing it, don't think of short term gains, the harder you work, the luckier you get," said Senior Vice President of FICCI and Chairman of Xpro Sidharth Birla, Sam Pitroda as he urged the audience to use innovation to solve the problems of the next 25 years and to be persistent.
 
Founder of IAN India Saurabh Srivastava congratulated the winners of the event during which finalists of each category delivered presentations to explain their concepts.  The winners received the opportunity to be incubated as well as 1 lakh rupees. (KNN)
