New Delhi, Jun 28 (KNN)  The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) has targeted over 100 new enterprises in all districts of the country under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Fund (PMEGF) every year.

During a meeting with the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, Minister of MSME KH Muniyappa said, “…every year the government will target over 100 new enterprises in all districts of the country including Karnataka which will create 65000 -70,000 new first generation enterprises every year with employment opportunities for over 5.20 lakh persons every year,” according to an official notification.

With regard to Karnataka in particular, the MSME Minister said that one new Tool Room would be set up at Devanhalli in Bengaluru under the Skill Development Programme.  It would be developed as an Aerospace Park to enhance the quality of skills in the region.

Further, the Ministry would support clusters development under the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI Scheme) for micro enterprises.

“As per the scheme, one cluster in each district will be taken for development.  In Karnataka, so far interventions in 16 clusters have been initiated and twenty more clusters have been taken up for development. Under this programme assistance can be extended to 10 crore depending upon the needs and more than one cluster can be supported by MSME ministry as per existing potential,” the notification said.

While assuring the Karnataka Chief Minister of all his support and cooperation in implementation of schemes, Muniyappa also pointed out that under the Cluster Development Programme (CDP) more than 40 clusters were identified in Karnataka recently while many more were in the pipeline for future interventions in terms of infrastructural development and setting up of common facility centres (CFCs) for enhancing productivity and quality of manufacturing.

Ministry of MSME introduced the SFURTI (Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) programme all over India to generate employment in rural areas.  The main objective of the scheme was to provide employment to rural artisans and train rural citizens to improve their economic conditions with the help of SFURTI programme.
