12 Clusters to develop in North- East States : MSME Minister

Dimapur, Feb 27 (KNN) Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Kalraj Mishra, said that in the first phase 67 of 71 clusters would be developed across the country which has been already approved. The project involves Rs 149.44 Crore while 12 such proposals are in North-East Region (NER).

Addressing Dimapur Regional MSME Conclave 2016, the Minister said in the next phase, 729 more cluster proposals would be taken up for approval to make the SFURTI (Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries) even more widespread.

He further said that under the scheme, 17430 credit proposals have been approved with total approved amount of Rs. 501.48 Crore till January, 2016 in NER Region.

SFURTI Scheme launched in 2005-06 has been revamped with modified norms for continuation during the XII Plan by Government of India, he added.

He also said that SFURTI Scheme aligns traditional industries & artisans into clusters to make them competitive & provide support for sustainability & economy of scale
Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim & Tripura participated in this Regional MSME Conclave 2016, Dimapur.

He further said that out of this, 5092 projects have been approved for the 8 States of NER Region (including Sikkim) & this is expected to create 20639 employments adding that ASPIRE to Setup tech centres & incubation centres to accelerate entrepreneurship & start-ups for innovation & entrepreneurship in agro –industry.
