14,11,010 trained by MSME institutions in 2010-13

New Delhi, Dec 19 (KNN)  As many as 14,11,010 persons were trained by various training institutions of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises during the period 2010-13, while 94,565 of them got employment through MSME tool rooms and technology development centres during the same period.

In an effort to fill the existing skill gap, the Ministry through its field institutions conducts both short-term and long –term training programmes on different trades as per the demand.

According to official data released by the Ministry yesterday, in 2012-13, Andhra Pradesh trained the highest number of trainees with 75,044 while Goa trailed with 521 trainees.

Significantly, an industrialised state like Haryana had a smaller number of successful trainees with 3705 while a non-industrialised state like Bihar saw 16,055 trainees in 2012-13.

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has a network of 30 MSME-Development Institutes, 28 Branch MSME-Development Institutes, 4 Regional Testing Centres (RTCs), 7 Field Testing Stations (FTSs), 2 MSME Training Institutes, 1 MSME Technology Development Centre (Hand Tools), 18 Autonomous bodies which include 10 Tool Rooms (TRs),  and 6 Product-cum-Process Development Centres (PPDCs).

Further it has 2 Central Footwear Training Institutes (CFTIs) functioning under office of DC(MSME) besides 3  National Entrepreneurship Development Institutes(EDIs), 41 Multi-Disciplinary Training Centres (MDTCs) of Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), 7  Technical Service Centres and 79 Technology Incubation Centres (TIC)  of National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), Training Centres of Coir Board and Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Rural Industrialization (MGIRI) providing skill development training in different parts of the country. 

MSME-Development Institute, Raipur and Extension Centre of Indo Danish Tool Room (IDTR), Jamshedpur at Raipur under the office of Development Commissioner (MSME) impart training in the state of Chhattisgarh.   (KNN/ST)
